SES say driver had lucky escape

A DRIVER may have fallen asleep at the wheel before his four-wheel drive ran off the road and flipped onto its roof at Craignish on Saturday.

Emergency workers said the man was lucky to walk away after the vehicle rolled into a ditch off the Pialba-Burrum Heads Rd about 11.50am.

The man suffered only minor injuries but was still transported to Hervey Bay Hospital following the crash.

It is understood the four-wheel drive swerved and then rolled over when the driver over-corrected.

The vehicle was headed towards Hervey Bay when it came off the road about 150 metres from the Petersen and Craignish Rd intersection.

Firefighters and police attended the scene and waited for a tow truck to remove the wreckage.

TWO Hervey Bay drivers had their cars impounded over the weekend after being caught driving without a licence.

A 46-year-old woman was pulled over on Cypress St at about 10pm on Saturday, while a 19-year-old male was pulled over an hour earlier on Elizabeth St in Urangan. …
