TALENTED swimmers hoping to make a splash at the World Championships in Barcelona are appealing for your help.

Members of the Derwentside Amateur Swimming club in Stanley, County Durham, need funds to go on a winter training camp to Dubai to prepare them for the elite tournament.

Through the Evening Chronicle's Wish campaign, coach Paul Woodley hopes his young squad's dreams will come true.

This year the Wish campaign has PS35,000 to share between worthy causes across the North East. Paul hopes Chronicle readers will choose to back his dedicated team of stars by sending them the paper's Wish tokens.

The more they collect, the more money they walk away with.

Paul, 30, said: "The squad deserve these tokens. I've been coach for 10 years and you won't find a more committed bunch of young people. Through GCSEs and A-Levels they continue every week and never miss a training session."

Among the squad's champion swimmers are Rachael Wilson, 23, from Whickham, Gateshead, who was just half a second off qualifying for the London 2012 Olympic Games and has high hopes for the World Championships. …
