THE plug has been pulled on a traditional festive lights show.

Each year, Redcar couple Geoff and Tina Patchett light up people's lives - and raise cash for charity - with a stunning display at their Redcar home, inside and out.

Admirers come from miles around to see the sparkling display. But this year, they'd be wasting their trip -because it's not going to happen.

Sadly, health problems for Geoff and Tina have put paid to the display, which can take three weeks to put up and last year raised PS1,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance.

But with Geoff needing treatment for severe sciatica, and Tina recovering from a knee replacement, it would just be too much to do it this year.

It's a real shame because as well as their hundreds of usual lights and decorations, they even had a family of penguins and polar bears ready to make their debuts.

So the debutants will now have to wait for next year, with Geoff, 66, promising to return to with a display bigger and better than ever. …
