Police tied up with admin work

A CALL for more police officers in Gayndah has been made after it was revealed businesses in the area were increasingly worried about petty crime.

The North Burnett Chamber of Commerce said businesses were concerned there were not enough police officers in the town to deal with the situation.

The police station lost its only administration officer last month and now two police officers have to share the work, which Chamber member Joanne Dowling said had restricted the amount of time the officers could be available on the streets.

Lonely no more for Christmas Day

The annual Picnic in the Pines event will be held at The Pines in Point Vernon on Christmas Day, ensuring everyone in the community has somewhere to go on Christmas Day and will include a free lunch.

The event will be held from noon to 2pm.
