JAMES PERCH has warned his Newcastle United team-mates they must emerge from the tunnel at the Britannia Stadium as the Premier League's "fight club" if they are to haul themselves away from the top-flight danger zone.

Newcastle go in against the Prem's bully boys Stoke knowing they must stop the rot after what has been a black November. Fit-again Perch will be thrust into the battle in the Potteries tonight insisting the Magpies have enough "big men" and "big characters" to get out of trouble.

And he is confident Newcastle can not only handle the heat, but salvage something from their season, with the Europa League and FA Cup still up for grabs.

He told the Chronicle: "I think the fight's always been there, and we'll have to fight against Stoke tonight.

"There's never been a lack of fight or effort - it's maybe just a bit of confidence.

"It's the same squad, the same players and the same staff. It's the same club.

"Things haven't gone quite right in the last few weeks, but we're hoping to put that right. …
