AS part of our recent conference we were very fortunate to see a presentation from Australian Adventurers James Castrission and Justin Jones.

Cas and Jonesy (as they are better known) became famous as the first people to paddle a kayak from Australia to New Zealand.

As a major sponsor Travelscene American Express had asked them to come along to address our conference having most recently completed their Antarctica Adventure where they became, along with Norwegian Adventurer Aleksander Gamme the first people to trek from the Antarctic Coast to The South Pole and back again a unassisted.

To put this into perspective it meant dragging enough food and supplies to sustain them for the duration of their journey.

The rigours of their daily grind were such that they needed twice the amount of food that they would normally require a thus doubling the weight of food they needed to drag behind them on sleds.
