A CULINARY slice of Noosa took centre stage in Shanghai recently, attracting worldwide attention for three weeks.

Lance McKenzie, the 27-year-old executive chef at Rococo Noosa in Hastings St, headed the Australian Food and Wine Master Week at the Four Seasons Shanghai.

He cooked and demonstrated in front of international media a and a few billionaires.

The Shanghai hotel transformed one of its five restaurants into Rococo Noosa, complete with the Rococo name and alfresco setting.

The aim was for Mr McKenzie to give the well-heeled hotel guests a glimpse of Australia's food and wine scene.

aThey had posters promoting me and the event on every corner of the hotel, even in the elevators,a Mr McKenzie said.

Working with 112 chefs and 500 staff at the hotel might have been daunting at first, but Mr McKenzie quickly became used to it.

aAs well as running the Rococo restaurant in the hotel, I did two wine dinners, two cooking demonstrations and a billionaires gala dinner,'' he said. …
