THERE were a number of fixtures in both the Cleveland and Middlesbrough District Table Tennis leagues last week.

With a 9-1 victory over Ormesby D, a 10-0 defeat of their C team counterparts and a 5-5 draw with Ormesby C, Northfield A have taken an early lead in the Cleveland & District Premier League.

Jevon Chan produced the best results in both winning matches with a hat-trick in both matches.

Ormesby C player, Alec Ward, was the best player on show in the drawn fixture as he scored a hat-trick, whilst Sam Hitchin and Aiden Ranftler won one each.

Lindsay Taylor and Tony Wilson won two each for Northfield while Jevon Chan was unable to produce the form that he showed in the other two matches.

In second place is Hartlepool A, beating Northfield C 10-0 and Ormesby A 7-3. Dave Robson won three against Ormesby, which included victories against Steven Brunskill and Chloe Whyte while Darren McVitie won two.

Against Northfield C, Robson, Graham Barella and Mark Cotton all scored hat-tricks.

Hartlpool played a 5-5 draw against Northfield B and despite a hat-trick from McVitie, Matthew Stanforth and Billy Forster both won two from Northfield whilst Mark Walpole won one.

Ormesby A maintained their lead of the top of the division of the Middlesbrough & District League last week when they beat their Ormesby D counterparts 10-0 with hat tricks from Anthony Phoenix, Martin Rutter and Adam Smith.

The match was as comfortable as the scoreline suggests with only two of the 10 sets needing the fourth game.

Second placed Tees Trains Nomads A kept pace with the leaders with a 10-0 victory over Ormesby C. Steven Baines, Ian Plummer and Kevin Lindsey all scored hat-tricks in this fixture.

The closest match of the week was a 6-4 win for Nomads B over Tees Trains. …
