CSG-related proposals and a new outdoor dining policy in the LGA are some of the topics to be discussed by Lismore City Council at the next ordinary meeting tomorrow.

A motion from Cr Simon Clough proposes to establish the costs and wording of signs reflecting the wishes of 86.86% of local residents opposed to coal seam gas mining in our local government area.

Five signs would be placed at the gateways to Lismore, including the airport, at an estimated cost of $1200 for each.

Cr Clough will also bring forward a motion asking council to ask the Northern NSW Local health District to carry out a Health Impact Assessment of the effects of CSG production on local residents.

The motion will also offer council assistance to the Local Health District with such a study.

A third motion by Cr Vanessa Ekins will propose a request to Northern Rivers Regional Organisation of Councils (NOROC) to investigate the benefits of jointly funding research with SCU on baseline data collection on pre-CSG groundwater. …
