A NEWCASTLE tribute band are out to bring The Who classics to a new generation of rock fans at a charity night on Saturday to raise funds for young cancer sufferers.

The Whodlums will be recreating the glory days of Roger Daltrey and company with a concert at O2 Academy in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The four-piece band are firm supporters of the charity which helps young sufferers in the region and the money they raise will go towards the North East Board's PS100,000 fundraising target.

The band formed in 2006 in honour of The Who whose frontman Daltrey is himself patron of the Trust and endorses the band who'll be playing their biggest gig to date.

It promises to be a rocktastic night with support being provided by Six Nowt who'll perform ska classics in a homage to The Jam and Ska Toons.

There'll also be a raffle to boost funds and help pay for the upkeep of the charity's two specialist units in Newcastle, at the Great North Children's and Freeman hospitals. …
