WHILE some of us will be kicking back, enjoying the full feeling of a big Christmas lunch, ambulance officers like Catherine Vaughan will be hard at work.

However, the bright and passionate trainee paramedic said she was happy to be going to work.

C[pounds sterling]I worked last Christmas as well. I worked the Christmas Day shift,C[yen] she said.

C[pounds sterling]Because all my family are in Victoria, I donCOt mind... it gives the other people with families here the chance to have time off.C[yen]

The North Mackay Ambulance station looked a treat yesterday afternoon, with the lounge room completely decked out in Christmas decorations.

C[pounds sterling]As you can see we are pretty festive here,C[yen] Ms Vaughan said.

The morning shift at the station will kick off in style with a big Christmas breakfast cook-up.

C[pounds sterling]It will sort of be like an orphansCO Christmas. …
