While undoubtedly a scooter (well, a "maxi-scooter" anyway), with its relatively small wheels, knees-to-thefront seating position and twist-andgo CVT automatic transmission, it comes with a meaty 647cc twocylinder four-stroke engine that sets it way ahead of many of its rivals.

Touted as an "urban mobility" solution, it is just that. With heated handgrips and seat, a tall, adjustable screen, multi-information computer, two-helmet under-seat stowage, ABS braking and plenty of weather protection for feet and legs, it makes mincemeat of getting around town.

Those used to a "proper" bike will find smaller wheels give it a nervous character at first but you quickly acclimatise and it handles superbly. …
