THE death of well-loved clubman Huia Whale has left Maroochydore Rugby Union Club mourning a apopular pesta who had time for everyone.

The 31-year-old was killed in a traffic accident on his way to work on December 14 and the loss of the flanker and No.8 has left a void among former Swans club mates.

aHe was a huge part of the club. He captained reserve grade a few times, and in 2008, when they won the grand final, Huia was man of the match,a said good friend Miles Turvey.

aHe played half the game with a broken nose. He never held anything back on the field.

aHeas irreplaceable.

aOn the field when youare up against it, head stand up, put a shot on and lead by example.

aIn 2008-09 he was playing both grades at the club, coaching Stingrays juniors to a premiership and coaching Maroochydore juniors to the grand final.a

The Maroochydore club held a memorial service for Mr Whale yesterday at their home ground, where his family and mates had painted his name in the in-goal area. …
