Denim Skirt Is Not Right for the Gym; Junior Doc 'Upset and Angry'

A TEESSIDE junior doctor has been left feeling "upset and angry" after she claims she was asked to leave a gym because she was working out in a skirt.

Sy Parker was exercising at DW Sports Fitness Club in Middlesbrough when a member of staff approached her and said they had received complaints about the way she was dressed.

Sy, who said she has worn a skirt to exercise in on previous occasions, said she was then asked to leave the premises.

"I was in the free weight section when a member of staff came up to me and said they wanted me to leave because I was dressed inappropriately," said Sy, 26, a junior doctor at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

"I asked why and if it was in their terms and conditions and she came back and showed me them which said you had to wear appropriate clothing for exercise.

"I was shocked. I have worn a skirt to exercise in before - there is more freedom to move. …
