Charity Cash Would Make Mum So Proud Says Family

A MUM would be "beaming with pride" if she knew that nearly PS1,400 had been raised in her name following her sudden death from cancer.

Family and friends collected the impressive amount in memory of inspirational mum-of-six Maria Readman.

Maria was only 46 when she died suddenly at her Thornaby home, leaving behind devastated husband of 19 years Jeff. At the time of her death last month Jeff, 54, paid tribute to Maria, who he described as "the most loving and caring person we all ever knew".

He added their family which includes children Jamie, 36, Kelly, 35, Nicola, 33, Paul, 29, Scott, 22, and Ryan, 20, would "sorely miss" Maria.

Now PS1,050.35 has been donated to the chemotherapy ward at Stockton's University Hospital of North Tees where Maria was treated, following a collection at her funeral.

A further PS60 for Cancer Research UK and PS287 for Macmillan Nurse Cancer Support was also raised.

Son Scott a media production graduate, said: "Knowing that we raised all that money in her name, my mam would be overwhelmed. …
