Truth, reality, and change. TheyCOre something the ancient Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle wrestled with.

Yet theyCOre still relevant as we head into the New Year. The year which offers us all so much opportunity. A year, and a future, in which it will be up to every one of us Co individually as well as collectively Co to decide what to do with that opportunity.

Do we mine it for our own gain, or do we take stock of the privileges we already hold, letting the integrity within guide our vision towards a future we desire?

Truth and honesty. TheyCOre concepts that are as flexible and adaptable as we allow or will them to be.

What is the difference between truth, reality and the perception of truth? Where do the facts fit in? What about time and its effect on truth? Does something become true if enough people believe it?

Perhaps the universe is the single C[pounds sterling]trueCOCO thingC* yet even it is continually changing. So does that mean truth is changing also? Does the truth stand still, remain untouchable... or does it alter also, just like the universe?

Two people can be sitting on a bench, witnessing the same moment in time. Yet their perception of that moment can differ.

We live in a society where people create virtual identities. But are these in any way less real than the original identity we knew before?

Virtual reality is still a reality. A copy or imitation is still real. How many copies have there been of Mona Lisa?

There are also truthful interpretations of the original. Just look at 81-year-old grandmother Cecilia Gimenez 's less-than-artistic attempt to restore a century-old church fresco at Santuario de la Misericordia, the Roman Catholic Church in the village of Borja, in north-eastern Spain.

Surely she felt there was an element of C[pounds sterling]truthCOCO in her decision to rejuvenate the oil painting of Jesus Christ.

So it seems the definition of truth, and our concept of what we perceive to be honesty, is just as capable of evolving as the universe itself. …
