Hot Cross Buns Hit the Shelves

CHRISTMAS is barely over and already hot cross buns and Easter eggs are hitting supermarket shelves across the Northern Rivers.

And once the calendar clicked over to 2013, back-to-school sales were advertised on TV, almost four weeks out from when children return to school.

While IGA, Spar and Aldi supermarkets are yet to put hot cross buns on their shelves, a Coles spokesman said the supermarket will begin to stock hot cross buns from today and all stores currently stocked a limited range of Easter eggs.

The spokesman said Coles had stocked hot cross buns and a limited range of Easter eggs on its supermarket shelves in early January for many years.

Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell said she thought it was ridiculous that Woolworths had hot cross buns on supermarket shelves on Boxing Day after she saw a friend post about it on Facebook.

She said she believed it was a sign that our lives are moving too fast. …
