IT was not a happy day for Boldon CA at Hartlepool. Not only did they make their exit from the Wearside League Cup but they played almost the entire second half with just nine men after having Michael Meek and Gary Brooks sent off.

Ian Davies and Steve Chapman (pen) had given Pools the cushion of a two-goal lead but, despite their numerical disadvantage, Boldon levelled through David Hopper and Jonathan Murray.

In stoppage time, though, their hopes ended as Jamie Williams hit the winner.

Harton and Westoe were on the receiving end of an eight-goal blast at Willington, for whom Paul Bayles struck six times.

James Seymour bagged a brace and Harton's only reply came from Stephen Telford. Prudhoe Town coasted into the next round, defeating Kirkbymoorside with strikes by Kevin Dixon, Stephen Foster and Jamie Henderson before Chris Rhodes claimed a consolation.

Annfield Plain went out at Ashbrooke Belford House whose matchwinners were Stephen Bogie (3) and Mark Green. …
