An Eye on the Future of 3D; Two Wolvi Men Develop a Special Digital Printer

PLENTY of amazing things are happening as 3D printing expands its influence into mainstream and most recently to somewhere you would least expect it a a country farmhouse in the Gympie region.

Two entrepreneurs have spent countless hours perfecting their rapid prototype device at Wolvi and invite people to access this exciting technology.

It may sound futuristic, but a machine that can make three dimensional solid objects from a digital model is a reality and Len Paterson and Ron Fleming are thrilled by the opportunities it presents.

But what can it do?

Mr Paterson said a good example was the exact replication of obsolete parts for historic motor vehicles.

Parts can be scanned and when they need replacing, the rapid prototyping 3D printer can produce one in a matter of hours.

aOne of the hardships of owning an old car is rebuilding rare parts when there are simply no replacements available,a Mr Fleming said. …
