Remy Not Only Option for Toon; Manager: Let's Win for Fans

ALAN PARDEW today insisted Newcastle United have "other options" if they fail to bring in stars like Loic Remy this month.

The Magpies are still in the hunt for Remy and the player was due back in France today after a warm-weather training camp with Marseille.

As the Chronicle reported this week, Newcastle are also interested in St Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyeng. However, despite fears from fans they will emerge from the transfer window shorthanded, Pardew told the Chronicle: "For us it is simple, we have our targets and we are focusing on them.

"We are also working on the targets beneath them in case we are knocked back."

Geordie fans have grown frustrated in the January window but there are still 20 days left for clubs to do business - and many sides and agents are holding out for better offers.

Pardew added "We have been as aggressive in this window, but sometimes agents want to wait and to see if a fans. The team I put out last week is one I would not want to put out again. …
