TWO exciting but very different exhibitions are opening at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery on Friday.

Camp Slayer features the work of Canberra-based photographer, David Hempenstall, who has spent years in remote and dan- gerous areas of the world such as Afghanistan and Bougainville.

aDavidas photographs do not include images of blood and the wounded, but rather focus on the abstracted imagery of the camps,a Gallery director/curator Dr Leigh Summers said.

aHis exhibition is taken entirely with a Polaroid camera and each work is a delicate and beautifully composed abstract image.a

The second show is by Bellingen artist Angela Tay.

aAngela was born in China and trained at an art school in Han Zhou before migrating to Australia,a Dr Summers said.

aShe now lives in Bellingen and has found considerable success as a visual artist.

aIn this exhibition she is presenting drawings, paintings and large, high-impact installation works suspended from the gallery ceiling. …
