TAKEAWAY business Pie Face has sold its last piece of pastry from Caneland Central.

The store, which is part of a chain owned from Sydney, had its last official trading day yesterday.

The company has blamed lower-than-expected customer traffic for the closure.

C[pounds sterling]Caneland Mackay centre food traffic appears to have dropped considerably,C[yen] company spokesman Ben Macpherson said.

C[pounds sterling]We decided there is not enough return to keep the current location operating and are looking to relocate (or) open a store somewhere else in Mackay.

C[pounds sterling]We believe others in the centre may be facing the same issue,C[yen] he said.

However, Caneland Central manager Phil Martin said it was always difficult for pie shops to survive in a food court.
