MAWAAKEF looks favourably treated for the Blue Square Bet Conditions Stakes at Lingfield tomorrow.

Now trained by John Jenkins, the former Kevin Prendergast inmate carries a rating of 91 into the contest, 5lb higher than his nearest rival on the book.

Races like this are probably the way to go for the time being for the five-year-old as he was punished harshly by the handicapper for winning at Kempton early last month.

He was handed an 5lb rise for that win and was then bumped up another 3lb for finishing a close-up fifth in a Listed race on his next run.

Given he has been beaten in plenty of handicaps off marks in the 80s, he is likely to struggle in that sphere, so this represents a good opportunity to return to winning ways.

John Hills does not have many youngsters who win on their debut so the fact Dangerous Age was able to go so close earlier this month on her introduction bodes very well.

She finished third of six but was only beaten just over a length and, as a filly by Sleeping Indian, it was a little surprising she showed so much early speed. …
