THE fast times recorded by swimmers last week werenat anywhere to be seen at Tuesdayas meeting.

All competitors reaching a final did so by recording quite slow times, and most were baffled by their lack of speed.

The 50m freestyle final qualifiers were Damien OaMahony, Doug Ensbey, Richard Sear and David Moon. Doug, with a bit of a head start, led the field until the 30m mark. It was here he appeared to be making no headway, and was he quickly overtaken by aSearsya, who must have found something extra in the tank.

The additional speed, however, only earned him a D and the winning voucher went to aMooneya, with Ensbey second and OaMahony third.

It was great to see Max Kroehnert lining up for the 30m final, after having quite some time off last season because of injury.

Competing against him were Damien OaMahony, Wilson Burns and Ian Goodman.

Max, away first on handicap, maintained the lead for the whole 30m, and took the win from Goodman. …
