EVER wondered what the colleague next to you is thinking about or emailing? Welcome to the office of the future, where we won't just share our lives on Facebook but in the office too.

According to YourStudio, a company of London-based trends experts, "cloud" internet technology will allow far more information-sharing in the cutting-edge office of 2020.

Rather than fixed desks or cubicles, there will be a central hub -- a large overhead dome connected to all computer screens in the office -- where employees' progress and ideas will be streamed and displayed.

YourStudio, whose clients include British Airways, Costa Coffee and Space NK, also envisages the dome acting as a "conversation pit" with seating below it where people can discuss work or chat, and they will upload and download data to and from the hub from their smartphones or tablets.

Employees will have a "surface desk", a folding, portable desk that lets them plug in their tablet to customise their workspace and wirelessly share work with colleagues. …
