Ron McBurnie:

Metal as Anything

McAleese Gallery, Artspace Mackay, Gordon Street,

Saturday, January 26, 10am to 5pm

This is your last chance to view this Artspace exhibition before it travels to its next venue. Showcasing 30 years of diverse and intricate etchings by Townsville artist Ron McBurnie, this exhibition is a place where misbehaving dogs, ducks in box kites, jumping cats and eccentric toad shooters meet to examine their place in the carnival of characters and landscapes that the artist has created as he highlights the weird and wonderful events that occur in our mundane suburban environment.

Still Life: Joachim Froese Photographs 1999 - 2008

Foyer Gallery, Artspace Mackay

01 February - 17 March,

Closed Sunday and Monday

Over the past ten years Froeseas work has concentrated on photographic still life and often explores personal family history. His photographic tableaux are laboriously assembled constructs that seemingly defy reality, and question the inherent nature of the photographic image as a reflection of the real. This exhibition provides a cohesive overview of the photographic practice of a significant Queensland artist of international standard.
