ALSTONVILLE and two Lismore clubs had the most competitors and were the standout Far North Coast clubs in the NSW Country Regional carnival at the Lismore Memorial Baths at weekend.

About 40 swimmers represented Trinity Lismore Swimming Club and 25 swam for host club Lismore Workers.

Madeline Nilon was one of Trinityas best finishing first in the Under-14 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke and 100m backstroke.

She also won the 800m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m individual medley, 200m butterfly and 100m butterfly.

Miranda Gilmore came first in the Under-13 girls 400m and 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

aWe were really happy considering the weather, some of the younger kids were almost getting blown off the blocks,a Trinity coach Ken Malcolm said.

aIt was an important event for us and the second last chance the kids have to qualify for the (NSW) Country Championships.a

Karla Gilmore and George Cooper also swam well for the Trinity Club. …
