CONFUSION over incorrect reports of a wall of floodwater has left Oakey residents demanding up-to-the-minute updates on impending inundations.

Kent St resident Marsha Donovan was among those who on Sunday evening heard reports of a 1m wall of water coming down Oakey Creek towards the town.

Some other people had heard it was 8-10m high.

C[pounds sterling]They told me at one of the local farms it had burst through and a 1m wall of water was coming through,C[yen] Miss Donovan said.

When she saw the banks of Oakey Ck running past the rear of her home widen by about 2m in the space of a minute, she knew it was time to take her two daughters to her brotherCOs for the night.

However, he too wanted access to accurate information after dismissing rumours of an 8m wall of water.

Oakey police officer-in-charge Sergeant John Cook said he didnCOt think the reports of the wall of water, which were posted on Facebook pages, were issued with any malice. …
