AFTER taking an eight-year break from work to focus on her children, Kathy Boreham has returned to the workforce at Mackay Base Hospital.

She joins 20 graduate nurses who have been appointed to positions in the Mackay regionCOs hospital system.

Ms Boreham, who was a beauty therapist for 10 years prior to having her three children, studied at home through distance education at CQUniversity.

C[pounds sterling]I found it really easy for my lifestyle because I could juggle family and study at my own convenience,C[yen] she said.

C[pounds sterling]ICOve always wanted to be a nurse. I just thought having the opportunity while I was at home looking after my children, I could also study and keep myself stimulated.C[yen]

Of the 20 new nurses, one will go to Proserpine Hospital, two to Clermont and two to Dysart Hospital.

Ms Boreham, who will be based in the child and adolescent unit at the base hospital, said she was excited to sink her teeth into her new role. …
