Drivers Get Relief on Licences, Rego; Government Helps Flood Victims with Road Payments

FLOOD victims facing overdue registration bills or costly licence replacements have a reprieve with the State Government offering to waive fees.

Queenslanders unable to reach Transport and Main Road offices because of the stateCOs flood crisis will be able to apply for three-month vehicle registration periods as well as the usual six- or 12-month options.

The State Government also will wipe the administration fee for people who pay their registration late and will replace lost or damaged driver licences free of charge.

The reprieves will apply only to residents living or with a vehicle garaged in declared disaster areas, including Bundaberg, the Sunshine Coast, Gympie, the Fraser Coast, Toowoomba and Gladstone.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said the measures would assist people focused on re-building lives.
