BUDDING David Beckhams could find the world at their feet when a college opens its new football development centre - with a scholarship in America the goal.

Redcar and Cleveland College has teamed up with GlobalSport Agency to offer male and female students the chance to study while pursuing their sporting ambitions with scholarships to universities in the USA.

The Football Development Centre, to start in September at the Redcar-based college, will enable students studying at Level 1, 2 and 3 to specialise in football.

The college's director of recruitment, marketing and business development, Andy McLaughlin, said trials for places would take place in the coming months.

He said: "The Football Development Centre is for students who want to study at college, but have particular strengths in football.

"They will complete their academic study, but will spend eight hours a week developing their football skills by coaches from GlobalSport - experienced UEFA 'B' qualified coaches who guide and support students on monthly action and improvement plans to develop their game. …
