A BROKEN toe couldnCOt stop former Lismore cricketer Tom Cooper from finishing the Twenty20 Big Bash League season with the Melbourne Renegades.

Cooper broke his toe at the first training session after Christmas but recovered for his best innings of the Big Bash season, scoring 59 runs in a win over the Adelaide Strikers on January 2.

C[pounds sterling]I was lucky I was able to monitor it and play the second half of the Big Bash,C[yen] he said.

Cooper hasnCOt played since the RenegadesCO semi-final against the Brisbane Heat on January 15 and will return to grade cricket when he plays for the University of Adelaide tomorrow.

He is hoping to be fit enough to finish the season with the South Australian Ryobi Cup side as they chase back-to-back titles in the 50-over competition.

Before the injury, Cooper had contributed plenty for University, scoring three centuries. …
