AUBRIETIA has been in tremendous form since the turn of the year and looks bound to go well again in the Poker At coral.co.uk Handicap as all-weather action returns at Southwell.

The four-year-old has proved a real money-spinner since being bought by Alan McCabe out of Ed Vaughan's yard last summer, with four wins on turf and a couple of strikes at Wolverhampton seeing her rise from a mark in the 40s to a far more respectable 77.

She looked seriously well handicapped when winning over six furlongs at Dunstall Park in early January and, after being beaten just a nose back over the minimum distance on her next start, deserved to get back to winning ways when back up in distance last time.

The assessor will, of course, catch up with her before too long, but having had a couple of weeks to freshen up, Aubrietia should still be difficult to beat off her new mark.

It could turn out to be a good afternoon for McCabe at his favourite venue, as Una Bella Cosa appears to have outstanding claims in the coral. …
