RELIEF funding is available for Sunshine Coast residents affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald a the problem is working out how to get it.

The Sunshine Coast Daily has received numerous messages from residents struggling to discover what they have to do to apply.

One resident was told he would have to go to Brisbane to fill in paper work, one was told to contact the council and a third was told to wait for a return call from someone in a Caloundra office.

In the meantime, people like Yvonne Taylor are struggling to make ends meet. Electricity went down in the Taylorsa Beerwah household early Sunday morning, it was not back up until Wednesday.

And like hundreds of others across the Coast, the couple have had to chuck out the contents of their freezer.

aWe have two fridge-freezers as I buy meat when it is on special,a Mrs Taylor said. aNow Iave had to throw it awaya.

She tried phoning the State Governmentas helpline last Thursday and gave her details to the avery helpful person on the telephonea. …
