GOLFER FROM FINLAND LEADS JUNIOR TOURNEY

With the wind blowing and temperatures dropping into the low 50s, a player from Finland jumped to the top of the American Junior Golf Tournament at the Slammer and Squire in St. Augustine.

Albert Eckhardt (140) shot a 3-under 69 on Friday and opened a five-shot lead over Mateusz Gradecki of Poland (145). Jordan Bachelor of St. Augustine (146) is another shot back in third. In the girls' competition, Kaew Preamuchuen of Thailand (150) has a one-stroke lead over Csilla Rosza of Hungary and Marianne Li of Seattle. The final round is Saturday.

TENNIS REFEREE CAN GO BACK TO WORK

A tennis referee whose career was almost ended by a charge that she murdered her husband with a coffee cup has been reinstated after the charge was dismissed for lack of evidence.
