A COMMUNITY organisation that has raised $10 million since it was formed in 1998 to support the provision of public health, says it will have no purpose if the Sunshine Coast University Hospital is controlled by a private company.

Wishlist CEO Lisa Rowe said the move would fundamentally change what organisation did.

Wishlist funded the $1.4million refurbishment of Nambour Hospitalas cancer centre and also contributed to the purchase of land for Reed Charity House that provides accommodation for people attending the hospital.

A senior doctor said clinicians had not been consulted on proposed privatisation of public health services at the new $1.8 billion hospital.

They have begun lobbying state members of parliament and expect a aprofound backlasha from the community. …
