YOU had to be there to experience the atmosphere at the Ivor Marsden Cricket complex last weekend.

With all five fields in action on Saturday and Sunday, it was a sight to behold for Ipswich cricket.

That was especially on Sunday with an under-16 semi-final, two U14 semi-finals, a T20 U16 game and the Stumps Premier League One-Day Final on Baxter Oval. It took on carnival status.

Ipswich Cricket is beaming with praise for the Ipswich City Council in providing a facility that can be enjoyed by players, families and spectators and makes viewing cricket so much more enjoyable.

The action is on again this weekend. Come on out and have a look.

Taipans give all

THE Taipans may have lost the one-day final to the Blue Dogs from Laidley but they can walk away with heads held high.

Laidley were the Cyred hotCO favourites but nobody told the Taipans. They gave it their all and provided all those present with an entertaining game.

This was the club at the start of the season that was struggling to field an A grade team.

Throughout the season they have proved to be competitive.

This is not only a reflection on the players but also on Brad Hines and his hard-working committee.

The only one direction for the Taipans is upwards. There is no club in Ipswich that has a better support base than the Taipans.

On another positive note, the recent meeting of club delegates was the best attended meeting of club representatives Ipswich cricket can recall in recent times.

Delegates had their chance to C[pounds sterling]clear the airC[yen] on a number of issues but the main purpose of the meeting was to resolve the under-16 finals.

Due to a number of issues involving one-day and two-day games, allocation of points, byes and washed out games, it was agreed that there were inconsistencies in determining the points ladder. …
