FOUR seems to be Paul HoolihanCOs unlucky number.

Yesterday, the Labor Party announced it had endorsed Peter Freeleagus as its candidate in the race to replace Kirsten Livermore and snatch the seat of Capricornia.

A disappointed Mr Hoolihan won the local vote but lost the union-heavy Electoral College vote.

While he received 64% support from local members, the college voted 41 to 9 in favour of Mr Freeleagus.

The final margin Co just four votes.

It isnCOt the first time the number four has cost the former State Member for Keppel.

In 2001 he ran against Vince Lester for the seat of Keppel and lost by four preferential votes.

Mr Hoolihan yesterday said he was C[pounds sterling]disappointedC[yen] with the Capricornia result.

C[pounds sterling]Once again the Electoral College has chosen to impose a candidate on the local members,C[yen] he said.

Mr Hoolihan said the partyCOs Electoral College, which is made up of electorate and union representatives across the state, held 50% of the vote. …
