LOCKWOOD Beck opens on Saturday after a restocking with 1,000 rainbows from 1lb 12oz to 15lb.

The forecast is looking good with light winds, so anglers should be able to fish the entire one-and-a-quarter miles of bank.

Last year, 66 anglers caught 858 fish for a rod average of 13. Boat and bank anglers caught on lures and nymphs from all over the lake and there were no real hot spots.

The Airflo bank heat had to be rearranged again and is now on April 7. Information and entry forms can be found at The final of the Fritz and Flies competition was held at Chatton on Saturday with 48 anglers landing 313 fish for a rod average of 6.5.

Robbie Bell from Berwick landed a lovely 15lb rainbow on a red bloodworm from Chatton Lake.

The fishery management thank Jim Tuck for organising the leagues over the winter and all the marshals who helped.

There were no winners as each fish was worth PS9 to the angler. There was only one blank on the day and the top rod was Simon Robinson from Newcastle, who caught 13.

After a number of weeks of quite challenging sport, all three lakes are now fishing exceptionally well. Father and son Graham and Lee Richardson, from Bedlington, enjoyed a great afternoon on Dunnydeer Lake, catching 31 between them.

Matty Divine from Hadston caught 15, returning a 12lb 7oz rainbow, whereas John Davison from Wooler kept four and returned seven.

The fishery is still closing at 5pm, seven days a week.

South Linden Fishery has fished extremely well with the near clear waters and wellstocked lakes producing quality fish.

Double-figure fish and good numbers of near doubles were landed from the fly lake while the bait lake produced many full bags. On the fly lake, K. Ainsle of Bill Quay caught and released 10 in a four-hour session, the best a 10lb rainbow; Gary Douglas of South Broomhill caught and released 10 in a two-hour session; T Dunn of Lynemouth caught and released eight; and D Lamb Morpeth caught and released nine, including rainbows of 11lb and 6lb. …
