MANY Northern Rivers people are missing out on health treatment because of transport issues, a new report has revealed.

The report, Provided Thereas Transport: Trans- port a Barrier to Accessing Health Care in NSW, has been published by the National Council of Social Services and is based on workshops held in Lismore and Sydney convened by the Northern Rivers Social Development Council and NCOSS respectively.

Participants worked through challenges and potential solutions to make it easier for people to get to the treatment they need, according to NRSDC trans- port officer Kate Geary.

aMany people in our community are missing out on essential health care, not for lack of health services, but due to insufficient or inappropriate transportoptions,a Ms Geary said.

aYou can have the best facilities and programs, but theyare of no value to people who canat get to them.a
