Wet Field Delays a Match in Memory

RUGBY LEAGUE: For 11 years Josh Manwaring has watched as the Under 16 Collegians and Suburbs battled it out for the Daniel May and Ian Jones memorial trophy.

Each year all Josh wanted to do was pull on his Collegians jersey, take the field and do his brother Daniel proud.

Daniel and his best friend, Ian Jones, died in a car accident in November 2001.

The two boys, who were 18 at the time, were driving home from the Toogoolawah Rodeo when their car crashed into a tree.

Dan played for Collegians and Ian for Suburbs and despite being best friends they were as competitive as anyone else on the field when their teams went head to head.

The Daniel May and Ian Jones memorial game was set up so the boysCO spirit and mateship would be forever remembered.

The match was scheduled for tonight, but with wet weather and rain forecast the match has been postponed. …
