Control Burns a Hot Issue

FIRE prevention has many people fuming in the community.

One of the hot issues centre around what a lot of people in towns are saying is the ludicrous amount of say greenies have in reducing fuel loads.

Anecdotal evidence says governments have for too long listened to the greenies and so have locked up vast tracts of land and not carried out any fuel reduction measures to help prevent bushfires.

And so when a fire ignites they are no longer bushfires but become all-consuming firestorms destroying everyone and everything in their path.

Instead of using logic and preventative measures we are putting our volunteer emergency services men and women at risk by waiting until we have a firestorm according to many rural firefighters.

Also many millions of dollars are spent in hiring water-bombing helicopters and aeroplanes as well as bulldozers and a host of other firefighting equipment.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Minister for Emergency Volunteers Ted Malone, has finished a report, the Malone Review into improving Queenslandas Rural Fire Service, and given it to the Community Safety Minister Jack Dempsey. …
