BMX: World champion rider Melinda McLeod is back on her bike again and on the road to recovery after a crash at an Elite camp on the Gold Coast earlier this year.

Melinda lacerated her liver in a crash during simulated racing the riders do between series events .

aIt wasnat the best experience of my life,a laughs McLeod who now faces a challenge to be able to race in the first world cup event in Manchester.

Melinda spent a week in hospital under observation with mum Tracy by her side and who drove her to and from appointments as she gained strength.

aI just made sure she ate well and did all those mumsy things,a said Tracy, who said like any mum it was an awful phone call to get telling you your child is injured.

Recent CT scans have indicated Melinda is able to get back on her bike now after the layoff and get some much needed time on the track. …
