NETBALL: Youth will lead the way when the Whitsunday Sharks play their first matches in the Mission Queensland State League netball premiership in Brisbane this weekend.

Goal shooter Danica Szepanowski and centre court player Taylah Di-Fillipo are still 15 and turn 16 this year, but are relishing the prospect of taking on their more experienced opponents when they line up for their debuts against Carina Leagues Tigers and Brisbane West Lions.

Also debuting this weekend will be Miranda Thomas, Robyn Lehmann, Kelly Beckingham and Jemma Carey .

Szepanowski, who stands at 189cm (6ft 1 ins) plays club netball with Magpies and has already had a yearCOs experience in the top Premier League grade with Wests, when she was just 14.

C[pounds sterling]ICOve been playing netball since I was in year 4 at school,C[yen] she said.

She also plays touch and competes in athletics and swimming at school, and says the SharksCO tough pre-season has helped her get ready for the State League challenge. …
