Easter Arrivals Solid; but Some Holiday Makers Delay Bookings

THE Easter break is just two weeks away but some tourists and Gympie residents have held off making their long weekend plans until the weather becomes acleara.

Fears of rain after a few wet Easters, and flood damage following our back-to-back disasters, have had a mixed impact on pre-Easter holiday bookings on the Cooloola Coast and inland.

Yesterday, only 650 campers had booked into Inskip Point for Good Friday but the Kingfisher Caravan Park at Tin Can Bay was almost full and the Kenilworth camping ground in the Imbil State Forest was completely booked out.

Flood damage has left Cedar Grove and the Muster site camping areas closed through Easter.

At Rainbow Beach, there are solid pre-bookings for holiday homes and units, with 80% of Cooloola Coast Realtyas 110 rentals taken up. Tin Can Bay Houseboats have been booked out for months, and are astill knocking back bookingsa.

Kingfisher Bay resort general manager David Hay said he had noted a change in booking patterns for Fraser Island. …
