FROM a fresh-faced can seamer to an astute health and safety officer, long-standing NestlA[c] employee Tom Bushell will hang up his hard hat and boots this year after nearly half a century working at the Gympie factory.

As the factoryas longest serving continual employee, Tom will say goodbye to good friends and take a lifetime of good memories with him into retirement.

Tomas time at NestlA[c] began in October 1965 when his aunty asked a NestlA[c] employee she knew to put in a good word for him.

Tom remembers the day he first visited the factory.

aWhen I was called for an interview I was told the job may only be for a few months,a he joked.
