KEEN interest is brewing in eight Mary Valley properties being offered for sale at a second Helmsman auction in Gympie on March 23.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jeff Seeney said the auction was part of the Newman governmentas strategy to return land to private ownership.

aOur aim is to restore the Mary Valley as the vibrant community it once was, before Labor ripped it apart with its failed plan for the Traveston Dam,a Mr Seeney said.

aIt worked well last time and, judging by the interest shown in this new round of properties, should result in another successful outcome.

aLike any auction we donat expect that all will be sold on the day a that is unrealistic, but we are keen to see these properties sell to help breathe new life into the Mary Valley community.a

Mr Seeney said the Helmsman style of auction had proved to be a successful way of selling the government-owned properties, as it allowed bidders to bid for multiple properties or move their bid between properties. …
