GARRY Beresford led the way as the regionCOs competitors racked up notable results against nationwide senior swimming counterparts.

Ballina Buccaneers Swimming Club member Beresford won the 30m freestyle in the 75-79 years age division at the AIF National Championships.

It was the latest accolade for the 78-year-old, who has performed excellently at the event in recent years.

Laurie Trim, secretary of the Ballina RSL-affiliated club, said he was delighted with BeresfordCOs achievements.

About 600 swimmers from clubs across the country took part in the event at Nelson Bay last weekend.

It was the 77th annual carnival, attracting senior age swimmers in various divisions.

There were other good results from the Ballina clubCOs swimmers.

Jack Trevan came second in his 80-84 years age division freestyle race, while Bridge Lindhart was third in the 70-74 years breaststroke championship. …
