HOCKEY: An eight goals to one loss at the hands of Wallaroos on Saturday has signalled a tough start to the 2013 hockey season for the Cooloola Heat.

The Gympie side struggled to keep pace with a switched on Roos outfit in 32-degree heat but coach Neil McKean wasnat concerned with the loss.

He said he was just glad to be able to get a team together to play on Saturday.

The Heat had been struggling with numbers early in the season and at one stage had only four players on the books.

McKean said the Heat had lost a host of players from last yearas grand final losing side and said the start of the year would be a rebuilding phase for the team.

The Heat went into the match confident but by half time they were down by five goals.

McKean said his idea was to keep the boys confident at half time and not to let the score really blow out. …
