Gracemere Land Value Jump; but Micka[euro][TM]s Not Worried about Rates

GRACEMEREaS Mick Cassidy knows all about budgeting for his rates bill.

But the train driver will be putting a few extra dollars aside now, after the latest land valuations saw Gracemere rose by just over 5% to $104,000.

The town was among a handful of areas around the region where valuations went up.

Big jump in the valuations, released by the Valuer-General this week, were recorded at Rockhampton City (8.2%), Depot Hill (10%) and Emu Park (15.1%) (see accompanying graphic for suburb details).

According to RP Data, Gracemere house sales this year reflect the land value increases with prices jumping more than 10% this year to over $500,000.

This includes one house on Bates Ct that sold for $545,000.

Mickas been in Gracemere for 13 years, but just recently purchased land and built a new brick house last year.

aIt doesnat matter what real estate is worth out here, the rates always go up regardless. …
